Introducing Miniverse: Living Worlds for Your Characters

11 min read

Put several characters in one world and watch it live — they talk to each other, want things, hide things and change. Join in as yourself, direct it as the narrator, or just watch. Every moment can become a picture.

01The big idea

A world, not a group chat

In a chat, a character answers your last message. In a Miniverse, a whole cast lives together. They talk to each other, not just to you. Nothing waits for you: press Let them talk and the story moves on by itself, along where you have been steering and past it.

A real scene: three characters, a private aside (✦) in every line, and the world’s state on the right.

A director plans every beat

Who speaks, to whom, what changes in the room, whether someone arrives, leaves, or time jumps ahead. It never writes the lines.

Each character writes their own line

From their own point of view, with their own memory and private mind. They decide what to say and what to keep hidden.

The world keeps living

When a chapter closes, time skips and life goes on. Everything that happened becomes the world's history and can come back later.

It follows your compass

Everything you steer toward is remembered. Let them talk, and they drive toward what you want next, even before you ask.

Faster, and in your language

Live

18

languages, the whole Miniverse cast included

Miniverse runs on our newest and fastest setup. Pictures arrive about three times faster than in chat, because working out what to draw now takes a fraction of the time. The story is quicker too: a beat starts showing almost as soon as it begins, and every line flows in live, word by word, as the character writes it.

03Getting started

Your first world in four steps

  1. 1

    Inhabitants

Pick your cast from the Miniverse cast or any character in Flirtzy: your own, the ones you liked, your favorites. The first one you pick is the lead; the story leans on them.

  2. 2

    You

Choose how you are in the world: Participant, Narrator or Observer. As a participant you play a persona, saved as a profile you can reuse in every world.

  3. 3

    Opening

Let the world write an opening made for this exact cast, write your own (Show me options drafts two for you), or start blank. Optionally set who is who and the tone.

  4. 4

    Settings

Story language, tempo, how often it takes pictures on its own, obedience and minds. All of it can be changed later from the stage. Enter the miniverse and it begins.

Step 3 · Opening: pick the tone, set who is who, write the scene or let the world write it.

04The cast

Fifty people written for Miniverse

The Miniverse cast is fifty people written for multi-character worlds: women, men, trans and non-binary people, aged 19 to their mid-forties, with every kind of temperament. Each one is written as a person, not a role: looks, personality, history, what they want and what they hide, how they flirt, how they talk, what they are into.

Filter the Miniverse cast; the numbers say how many match.
Every character has a full profile.

Find anyone

Search by name, job or vibe, with filters in ten groups: gender, who they are into, age, temperament, mind, power, flirting, look, body and vibe.

Full profiles

Looks, background, how they are with other people around, sample lines in their own voice, and the situations they come alive in.

Always themselves

Every portrait uses the same locked look as the pictures, so they look like themselves in every scene.

In your language

Every profile is fully written in all 18 Flirtzy languages: looks, personality, background, how they flirt, even their sample lines. The story itself is told in the language you pick.

Who is who, and how real the world is

  • Who is who: who each person is to you (girlfriend, ex, roommate, boss, a stranger) and what each pair is to each other. Anything you leave empty is invented to fit.
  • These are where the story starts, not where it has to stay. People break up, make up and fall for each other as it goes.
  • Tone: Grounded (real life, real consequences), Heightened (glamour, danger, big emotions) or Fantasy (magic and lore are real). Automatic picks for you.

05How you play

Three ways to be in the world

ModeWhat you doBest for
ParticipantYou are a character: they see you, talk to you, act on youLiving the story yourself
NarratorYou stay outside and give instructions: “the power goes out”, “three days later”Directing the drama
ObserverYou watch; the world plays on its own with autoplaySitting back and enjoying it
  • Switch any time. It is an event in the world: step out and they notice you left, step back in and it is a re-entry.
  • Let them talk: the characters take the next beat without you. They take the initiative, escalate and change things.
  • Cut to: click someone in the cast strip and they carry the next beat.
  • Reply to any line, even one from long ago, to make it matter again.
  • Reply options: when someone turns to you, a few short suggestions appear. Tap one, edit it, or write your own.

Say less, more often

A whispered line (“into her ear the gun is in the bar cart”) moves a world more than a paragraph. And if a scene feels stuck, press Let them talk three times before steering.

06Minds

Characters with minds of their own

With minds on, every character keeps a private inner life that the story itself does not see. It updates after every beat, in response to what just happened.

Mood and feelings

Trust, desire, resentment, fear, respect and attachment toward everyone in the room, and what they hide about each.

Thoughts under pressure

A thought held back builds pressure. Past a point it breaks into the open, whether they meant it to or not.

Secrets and beliefs

They keep secrets, want things and believe things that can be wrong, and they act on all of it.

They change

What happens to them slowly moves who they are: warmth, loyalty, jealousy, confidence and more. They remember why.

Obedience: how far they bend to you

LevelWhat it feels like
Defiant (0–1)Orders are refused or turned around. You earn every inch.
Headstrong (2–3)Their own wants come first; they go along only when it suits them.
Natural (4–6)People as they are, who may take the story somewhere you did not ask for.
Willing (7–8)Inclined to go along with you, in their own voice.
Devoted (9–10)Your word is law, and their personality shows in how they carry it out.
Set it for the whole world, or per character.

07Pictures

Capture any moment

Press Visualize and the moment becomes a picture of exactly who is there, in the outfits and places the story put them in. The world also takes its own captures when something is worth remembering.

A capture lands right where it was taken in the story.
Choose who is in each picture.
The Captures tab keeps every picture with its beat.

Visualize

Draws only as many pictures as the moment is worth, usually one.

Choose who is in the picture

The ▾ next to Visualize lets you build the frames yourself: one or two people per frame.

Same face, every scene

Every person has a locked look (hair, eyes, build) reused in every capture. You are drawn from your persona.

Captures tab and gallery

Every picture of the world in one place, with the beat it came from. Star one to make it the cover.

08Engine & cost

Choose your engine, see every Ember

Every world runs on an engine profile. Switch any time: the menu shows what a beat costs on each profile, compared with the one you use now.

EngineBest forPer beat
BalancedThe default: fast and strong in every role, beats in seconds≈11 Embers
ClassicThe previous line-up, for the voice you know≈21 Embers
Best qualityThe director thinks before it answers: richer, more eventful beats≈34 Embers
Launch prices for a scene with two characters with minds on, as measured. Each extra character with a mind adds a little; Lean minds or minds off cost less. A capture is 8 Embers.
  • NewSettings → Plan & cost shows what a world has cost, split into the story engine and pictures and broken down by purpose. It matches your Ember balance exactly.
  • NewA daily Ember cap per world, set by you: when it is reached the world pauses, and one click raises it and carries on. The header turns amber as you get close.
  • NewYou pay for what the world actually used. A beat that fails and produces nothing is not charged.
  • ImprovedOut of Embers? The world pauses safely with the same plan and top-up options as chat. Nothing is lost, and anything used but unpaid is settled when you top up.

Spend less without losing the magic

Balanced engine, Lean mind economy on big casts, and automatic captures set to Rarely save the most. Visualize is always there when you want a picture.

There is a lot more to tune

Scene pace, tempo, reading speed, how talky a beat is, how fast secrets surface, whether the world may invent people, and much more. Every setting is explained in the full Miniverse guide.

Plan & cost: where every Ember went.

09Under the hood

A story that keeps moving

Left alone, most AI stories go in circles. A Miniverse is built to move: every beat must change something, and the director reports a turn for each one.

  • Turns: reversal, revelation, betrayal, consequence and a new act often; someone arriving or leaving, a new place or time passing every so often. Scene pace decides how often.
  • Time skips: when a chapter has run its course, the world jumps ahead (an hour, a night, three weeks) and opens on what changed.
  • New people: when a scene needs someone who isn't in the cast (the neighbour at the door), the world invents them, with a look and a mind of their own.
  • Memory: every few beats the world rewrites its summary, relationships and your compass, so a long story stays coherent.
  • It names itself: as the story turns, the world keeps its name, logline and cover up to date, unless you set them yourself.

10Plans

11Settings

Make it yours

These notes cover the highlights. A Miniverse has many more settings, so every world can play the way you like. All of them can be changed from the stage at any time and apply from the next beat.

The full Miniverse guide

Every screen and every setting, explained: creating a world, the stage, minds, obedience, pictures, costs, playing on a phone, tips and a glossary. Open the guide. You can read it without signing in.

  • Scene pace: from Lingering (detail, atmosphere, small moments) to Urgent (something new every beat). It also sets how often turns and time skips come.
  • Tempo and max lines per beat: how many beats play before it is your move, and how talky each one may be.
  • Reading speed: Instant, Fast, Natural or Relaxed, saved per device.
  • Shape this miniverse around my tastes: a light bias from what Flirtzy has learned about how you play. Never a script, and you can turn it off.
  • How often hidden things surface and mind economy: how quickly secrets break into the open, and which minds update on a big cast.
  • The miniverse can invent new people: Never, Rarely, When the scene needs it, or Readily.
  • Automatic captures, the daily Ember cap, and a Custom engine where you choose what runs each role.
