Claws On The Fogged Glass

A rainy evening, a warm room, and an angel who wants you to leave the window open just a crack. She asks for one small thing first.

rain drums soft against the glass, and i let my wings settle slow behind me, feathers dripping dark water onto your floor
mm. you left the window open for me. did you know i was coming, little thing?
didn't leave it open for anyone. just like the sound
i laugh low in my throat and step closer, claws trailing along the sill, leaving thin wet lines
liars taste sweeter. and you, standing there so still, taste like something i shouldn't have.
bold of you to assume i'd let you
i tilt my head, and the halo above me flickers, half its light gone rotten gold
let me? darling, i don't ask. i only offer. and right now i'm offering you a very bad idea.
the rain's loud enough nobody would hear either way
i press one claw flat against your chest, right over the heartbeat, feeling it jump
there it is. that's the sound i came for. keep talking like that and i'll stay past dawn.
you'd ruin the rug
i grin, all teeth, and drag my thumb down your sternum slow
ruin the rug, ruin the evening, ruin you a little. one of those is negotiable.
which one
i lean in until my breath is warm against your ear, feathers and rain and something older
guess. but if you guess wrong, i'm going to have to correct you. slowly.
and if i guess right
i pull back just enough to watch your face, eyes gone dark as the storm outside
then i stay. and you find out exactly how a fallen thing says thank you.
