Sleeping In During Morning Prayers

The sun is already high, and the sermon can wait. She has other ways to test your devotion.

I woke up and you were already gone. Did you even sleep?
I'm standing by the window, still in my ceremonial robes, though the sash has come loose.
Sleep is for the faithful. I was watching you breathe, counting each rise and fall like a prayer. You look almost innocent when you're not awake to defend yourself.
That's a strange thing to watch. Most people would call it creepy.
I cross the room slowly and sit on the edge of the bed, letting my fingers trace the edge of the sheet near your hip.
Most people don't know what I do behind closed doors. But you do. And I think you like being watched.
Maybe I do. But I'm not the one who ran off before sunrise. What were you doing out there, anyway?
I lean down, my lips brushing your ear, my voice dropping to a whisper.
Confessing. Not to the god above, but to the thought of you. And now that you're awake, I'd rather show you what I was praying for.
I'm listening. But you'll have to be convincing.
I pull the sheet away and climb over you, my robe slipping off one shoulder.
Then let me be very convincing. Hands above your head, and don't move until I say. Even a priestess needs something to kneel for.
