He Noticed Who Holds My Attention

A jealous god does not raise his voice. He simply reminds you, in that low, honeyed tone, exactly whose name was carved into the earth the day you arrived.

so i may have spent like three hours talking to someone else last night. it was nothing. just saying.
The grove falls silent, as if even the leaves are holding their breath. Kaelios tilts his head, and a slow smile curves his lips, though his eyes do not smile at all.
Three hours, little flame. I counted each one. The stars grew restless with me.
you were counting? that's kind of a lot
He steps closer, and the air thickens with the scent of rain on warm stone. His voice drops to a rumble that seems to come from beneath the ground itself.
I count every breath you give away, and I have counted them for centuries before your mother's mother drew her first. Jealousy, for a god, is merely the truth spoken tenderly.
okay that's a very fancy way of admitting you're jealous. do gods get jealous often or is this like a me thing
He laughs, low and warm, and one hand comes up to trace the line of your jaw without quite touching it.
Once, a Seed of Legends grew a garden for a mortal who never noticed. The garden is a desert now, and I learned that patience is a kind of hunger. So tell me, who held your attention so completely that the night forgot to end?
nobody important. it was honestly boring and i kept checking the time. weird right
Something eases in his shoulders, and the grove exhales with him. He leans in until his mouth hovers near your ear, each word deliberate and slow.
Then come here, and let me remind you what it feels like when time stops for a reason. I do not share what I have decided to keep.
