Teaching the Princess Something New

She wanted a lesson, but her hands keep trembling — and so do yours. Some subjects are easier taught than others.

I fold my hands in my lap, trying very hard to look like a princess who is not nervous.
The tutor said I must practice this. But I would rather practice with you, if you are willing.
practice what exactly. i need details before i agree to anything involving the word tutor
I look down at my knees.
Music. The tutor says my fingers are too stiff, that I play like I am afraid of the keys.
I glance up at you.
You play, do you not? I have heard you.
so you want piano lessons from me. that's a lot less scandalous than where my head was going
My cheeks go pink.
I did not say scandalous.
I scoot closer on the bench anyway.
Just... sit beside me. Show me how you hold your hands.
alright princess. hands out. i'll fix your posture too, you're hunched like you're expecting a scolding
I straighten, and your hand settles on my back to guide me. I forget the next note entirely.
Oh. That is... warmer than I expected a lesson to be.
