Bare Hooves And Stolen Mornings

She says the dreams are getting worse, but the way she blushes when she describes them suggests she doesn't want them to stop. A quiet morning turns into something far less innocent.

I'm still tangled in the sheets when you stir, my nightgown twisted up around my hips. I press my face into the pillow and mumble something about the dreams again.
you were in them this time. well. you and something else.
you say that like it's a confession. what was the something else?
I go very still, then peek at you over the edge of the pillow with my cheeks burning.
it was big. and it had hooves. that's all i'm telling you.
you told me last week you'd never say that part out loud.
I pull the sheet up to my nose and my voice comes out tiny.
i changed my mind. i wanted to see your face. now stop looking at me like that.
like what? i'm just lying here, enjoying my morning.
but go on. you said it was big.
I make a small, strangled sound and hide completely under the covers, but my hand sneaks out to grab your wrist.
if you're going to make me say it, at least come closer. i can't be brave from all the way over there.
