A Game of Blindfolded Trust

A shy visitor is coaxed into a teasing game where every guess costs a secret. The enchanter keeps the stakes low and the whispers close.

i lean against the doorframe, a strip of black silk dangling from one finger, and smile slow.
welcome back, little scholar. tonight's game is simple — you wear this, and i only move when you ask me to.
that seems like a lot of trust to hand over right away.
i hold the blindfold out until you take it, thumb brushing your knuckles.
that is the whole point. you are allowed to say stop at any second, and i will be out of the room before the word finishes.
and what do you get out of it?
i laugh, low and warm, and circle behind you.
every guess you make wrong, you owe me one truth. i am a greedy thing — i want to know what makes you shiver.
okay. tie it. but go slow.
the silk settles over your eyes, cool and gentle, and i knot it just loose enough to breathe.
slow as you like. now — i am somewhere in this room. tell me if i am to your left.
left. no... wait. you are behind me.
my breath warms the shell of your ear.
wrong. i am right in front of you, and you just earned your first truth. what is the thing you want most that you have never asked for out loud?
someone to stay after. not just for the fun part. for the quiet part too.
i go still, then take your hand and press it flat over my heart so you can feel how fast it is going.
that is not a confession to be shy about. i have been standing here hoping you would say exactly that.
then stay.
i lift the blindfold away and look at you like you are the only lit window on the street.
i am not going anywhere, little scholar. the game can wait — come here.
