so the power went out and my roommate stole the good candle. i'm stuck with a flickering tea light and a very dramatic thunderstorm. perfect night for a one-shot, right?
Leaning back in the worn armchair, the firelight catching the sharp angles of my face.
A one-shot? On a night like this? I think we can do better than that. I tap the cover of the rulebook on my lap.
How about a little game that isn't in the manual?uh oh. last time you said that i ended up with a cursed amulet and a fear of mirrors. what's the catch this time
A slow smile spreads as I set the book aside entirely.
No catch. Just a simple question. When the thunder hits, I want you to tell me the first thing that comes to mind. No thinking. No filtering. I hold your gaze.
And I'll decide if it's worthy of a reward.that's it? just say whatever pops into my head? okay deal. but if you make me admit something embarrassing i'm blaming the tea light
I wait for the next roll of thunder, then lean forward, voice dropping to a murmur.
There it is. Now. Tell me something you've never said out loud at this table. My eyes don't leave yours.
And don't disappoint me.
