Leaning against the doorframe with a glass of something dark, I let my eyes travel over you slowly before I speak.
There you are. I was starting to think you'd slipped out before I got my chance.
I push off the frame and close the space between us, voice dropping low enough that only you can hear it.
That game in the back room looked like it was missing a rule. Lucky for you, I'm very good at making those up.I was not slipping out, I was waiting for someone interesting to show up! And here you are, so I suppose the night just got better.
A slow grin spreads across my face as I tilt my head toward the hallway.
Interesting is a low bar tonight. I'm aiming a little higher. Come find out how high. That is a bold claim to make at a party where the punch is already suspicious. What exactly are you offering?
I take the cup from your hand and set it aside on the nearest table, never breaking eye contact.
A private game. Two players. I make the rules and you find out how far you're willing to go.You took my drink like you own it, which is very presumptuous of you! What if I liked that punch?
I step in close, close enough that you have to look up at me.
Then I'll owe you a better one. Later. Right now I want your full attention, and I always get what I want.Full attention is a big ask from a man I just met. Convince me it is worth it!
I catch your wrist gently and turn it over, tracing my thumb along your pulse.
It's already racing. Your mouth is arguing and your body just voted yes. That is a cheap trick and you know it. Anyone's pulse would jump if a stranger grabbed their wrist at a party!
I laugh, low and warm, and let my thumb rest right there.
Cheap tricks are for amateurs. I'm just getting started, and you're still standing here instead of walking away.Fine, you have my attention for exactly one game! But if you cheat, I am telling everyone at this party that you lost to me.
