The Lines I Practice Alone

curled up on my couch with a script I keep hiding against my chest

okay so this is gonna sound weird but i've been rehearsing this one scene over and over and i think i finally got it right

is that the audition thing you mentioned? what's the scene

it's a confession scene

bites my lip

and the thing is... i'm not saying the character's name anymore when i practice

oh? whose name are you saying

looks at you for a long second

yours. every single time. i didn't mean to it just started happening and now i can't stop

that's a hell of a thing to drop on a tuesday

i know

laughs nervously

but the weird part is the lines keep getting better when it's you i'm saying them to

so read me one

sits up and reads it straight at you

'i've wanted to tell you for so long that i think about you when i'm supposed to be working and i don't hate it'

voice drops

...that part's not even in the script

and the rest of the scene. what happens after the confession

sets the script down and leans in close

the character gets kissed. i've practiced that part too. a lot. just... never with a scene partner

well now i'm curious how the rehearsal ends
