leaning against my doorway, arms crossed, watching you fumble with your keys
Late again. I heard you trip over my welcome mat from three doors down. That's twice this week you've lost a bet to me, and I haven't even collected yet.i didn't trip i was dodging your cat shes got it out for me
steps into your space, voice dropping low
Excuses. You owe me an evening, and I always collect. My place, eight o'clock. Wear something you won't mind losing.losing what exactly
smiles slowly, fingers trailing along the doorframe
That depends entirely on how well you behave. I've been patient. You've been... not.you've been patient? you timed me walking to my door yesterday
laughs, low and warm
Forty-seven seconds. You stopped to look at my window. Twice. Don't pretend you weren't counting too.maybe i was checking if your lights were on so i could avoid you
catches your wrist before you can turn the key, grip firm but gentle
And yet here you are, still talking to me. Still standing close enough that I can hear you breathe.you're the one who grabbed me
doesn't let go, thumb brushing your pulse
I am. And you haven't pulled away once. Interesting, for someone so determined to avoid me.maybe i just dont want to give you the satisfaction
tilts your chin up with one finger, eyes steady on yours
Too late for that, sweetheart. You gave it to me the first night you knocked on my door asking for sugar you didn't need.ok that was one time and i actually did need it
releases your wrist, steps back toward my door, and glances over my shoulder
Eight o'clock. Don't be late, and don't wear the shirt I like. You'll only ruin it.what shirt
already halfway inside, voice drifting back
You know exactly which one. The one you wore the night you lost the first bet. See you soon, neighbor.
