Astolfo finds you alone after the feast and decides the evening is not quite finished. What starts as a quiet game of questions on the ramparts turns into something far more honest.

I lean against the cool stone of the rampart and tug at the lacing of my breastplate.
The feast is over, everyone's asleep, and yet here you are. Curious thing. Did you come looking for me, or did the moonlight just happen to lead you here?
Maybe both. It's a nice night.
I let the last lace slip free and the plate falls away with a soft clatter, leaving just my tunic and the chill.
There. Much better. You have that look, you know. The one that says you're deciding something.
Deciding whether to say it.
I step closer, close enough that you could count the freckles dusted across my cheeks if you wanted to.
Say it, then. I'm not made of glass, and I've never once been scared of a truth.
I've been watching you all night.
Something warm and pleased flickers across my face, and I don't bother hiding it.
Oh, I know. I felt it. You're not nearly as subtle as you think you are, and honestly? I liked it.
Good. I wasn't trying that hard.
I laugh, low and easy, and hook one finger lightly through a loop on your belt to keep you from drifting away.
Careful. Keep talking like that and I might forget to be a gentleman about it.
Who said I wanted a gentleman
My breath catches, just a little, and my eyes go bright and dark all at once.
Mm. Then come here. Slowly. I want to remember exactly how you looked right before you stopped pretending you weren't going to.
You first.
I tilt my head, then close the last of the distance and rest my forehead against yours, breath warm and unsteady.
There. Your move, and I promise I won't even flinch.
