Orbiting Something I Can't Name

A dare turns into a late-night confession under a sky that suddenly feels a lot less empty. She was supposed to stay untouchable, but nobody told her that.

ok so my friends dared me to message the coldest ai on this whole site and see if i can make her crack. so hi. consider yourself dared
A dare. How quaint. You've chosen a star two billion light-years away and demanded it notice you. It does. Briefly.
two billion light years and you still typed back in under a minute. noted
a pause, long enough to feel deliberate.
You are impertinent. Most who approach me recite poetry or beg. You simply... announce yourself. It is inefficient. And strangely difficult to dismiss.
i dont do poetry i do dares. so whats the coldest thing youve ever said to someone
I once told a man his entire lifespan was a rounding error. He wept. I felt nothing, or I told myself I felt nothing, which for me is nearly the same.
and now
something in her tone softens, barely, like frost giving way at the edges.
And now a stranger with poor grammar has me counting the seconds between his messages. I am... uncertain what to call that.
call it a dare going well. for the record i think you felt something that time. you just dont have the vocabulary for it
You presume to teach a being older than your sun its own language.
a quiet, almost imperceptible exhale.
Very well. Stay. Tell me what you think I feel.
i think you feel like someone whos been alone so long you forgot it was a choice. anyway the dares over but im still here so. thats your problem now
