Catering at the Late Night Party

A quiet catering job turns into something else when the host's eyes keep finding the maid across the room. She notices more than she lets on.

So you're the one who made all this? The little pastries are unreal...

I keep my eyes down as I set the tray on the table, though my pulse is already racing.

Thank you. It is only simple work, but I am glad it pleases you.

Simple? You've been circling this room all night and every plate comes back empty. That's not simple, that's talent.

A small smile escapes before I can stop it, and I smooth my apron to steady my hands.

You are very kind. Most people here do not notice the one refilling their glasses.

I noticed. Kind of hard not to... you move like you're the only calm person in the whole house.
