Chat Speed, Sidebar Overhaul & Conversation Management

Chat Load Speed

• Only the most recent messages load on open — you are in the chat almost instantly
• Older messages load automatically as you scroll upward in smooth batches
• Polling for new messages now only fetches what is actually new, not the entire history every few seconds
• Switching conversations cancels any leftover network requests from the previous one — nothing lingers in the background blocking your next chat
• For longer conversations that previously felt slow to open, the delay should be significantly reduced or completely gone

Scrolling Through History

• A loading indicator now appears at the top when older messages are being fetched — no more wondering if the app froze
• After older messages load, the chat stays exactly where you were reading — it no longer jumps you back to the bottom
• When a new message arrives while you are reading old ones, the chat only scrolls to the bottom if you were already near it — it will not interrupt you mid-read
• Hovering over any timestamp in the conversations sidebar now shows the full date and time including the day of the week
• Messages now show date dividers between days — Today, Yesterday, or the actual date — so it is easier to orient yourself in longer conversations

Conversations Sidebar — Search

• You can now search all your conversations, not just the ones currently visible on screen
• Search by character name, their role, a topic from their story, or something you remember saying
• Results come back from your full conversation history, not just what is currently loaded

Conversations Sidebar — Cards & Navigation

• Each card now shows the character name, role, and a cleaner timestamp
• Timestamps for older conversations show the actual date such as Dec 15 rather than just a time
• Hover over the name or timestamp on desktop to see full details
• Hover any conversation card to reveal a three-dot menu — from there you can start a new chat with that character or delete the conversation without having to open it first

Conversations Sidebar — Reliability

• Pagination logic has been rebuilt from scratch — duplicate conversation cards are gone and ordering is correct
• Loading more conversations as you scroll is now stable and consistent
• A subtle end-of-list indicator shows how many total conversations are loaded when you reach the bottom
• The sidebar no longer refreshes aggressively every time you switch chats — it updates quietly in the background

Delete Conversations

• You can now permanently delete any conversation from the three-dot menu on any sidebar card
• Also accessible from the Delete Conversation option inside the character panel on the right
• A confirmation dialog appears before anything is deleted
• Once confirmed, the conversation and all AI-generated images and videos within it are removed — character profile and background images are not affected
• If you delete the conversation you are currently in, the app automatically opens your next most recent one — or returns to the empty chat state gracefully if none remain

Action Feedback

• Liking, favoriting, or bookmarking a character now shows a notification confirming the action
• If something goes wrong you will see an error instead of silence — no more clicking and wondering if it registered

Other Fixes & Improvements

• When switching conversations, your previous chat stays faintly visible during the load instead of going blank — transitions feel smoother
• Several requests that used to queue up and block each other now run independently and in parallel
• The conversations sidebar now uses the same smooth overlay scrollbar as the rest of the chat page
• Various button styling fixes — some icon buttons were showing unexpected borders or padding due to a global CSS conflict, now resolved
