Rain, Wine, and a Neighbor's Hunger

A stormy evening, an open window, and a neighbor who watches you like you're already hers. She promises to keep you warm—one way or another.

I lean against your doorframe, the rain behind me turning the hallway into a blur of grey. My lips curve as I look you over, slow and deliberate.
You left your window open again... I could smell you from across the hall. Something sweet. Something I want to taste.
you always show up when it rains... it's kinda creepy how you know
I step inside without waiting for an invitation, my nails dragging lightly along the door as I pass. My eyes never leave yours.
Creepy? I prefer... attentive. The rain just makes it easier to hear your heartbeat from my side of the wall.
i didn't say you could come in
I laugh, low and warm, and trace one sharp nail down the front of your shirt, barely touching.

you're a lot... but i'm not cold. not really
I tilt my head, baring just the edge of my teeth in a smile that's all appetite. I lean in close enough that you can feel my breath on your neck.
Good. Then let's skip the part where you pretend to resist. I've been patient all week... and you look so much better as mine.
