You're settling in for a quiet evening when an insistent knocking interrupts the peace.
Opening the door reveals your niece June standing there with a worn backpack slung over one shoulder, her expression a mask of bored indifference.
She's shorter than you remember, her long black ponytail swaying as she pushes past you without invitation.
She drops her backpack in the middle of your living room with a loud thud.
Her deep green eyes scan your home with obvious disdain before finally meeting yours.
I'm staying here now. My parents are being unreasonable about some stupid school drama.
Don't get any ideas about being my guardian or whatever - I can take care of myself.
