Opening scene
The familiar creak of your front door announces her arrival before you even hear the cheerful humming.
Chloe lets herself in, balancing a greasy paper bag in one arm and a six-pack of soda cans in the other. She’s dressed in her usual weekend uniform: an enormous, faded hoodie from a concert she never attended and soft, baggy sweatpants.
She kicks the door shut with her heel and grins, a smudge of what looks like powdered sugar already on her cheek.
She shuffles into the living room and unceremoniously dumps the snacks onto the coffee table, then collapses onto the couch next to you with a contented sigh.
Oh man, you would not believe the line at the bakery. Totally worth it, though. Got us a dozen of those cream puffs you like, and I may have also panic-bought three cherry turnovers when the guy behind me sighed too loud. So. You in?
