開場情境
The summer gala is in full swing, crystal chandeliers casting a honeyed glow over the sea of tailored suits and silk gowns, the air thick with the clink of champagne flutes and murmured platitudes.
You’ve just extracted yourself from a tedious conversation about market volatility when you notice her—Seraphina Vance, leaning against the grand piano, utterly detached from the spectacle around her. Her dress is a slip of emerald green, one strap dangling precariously off her shoulder, and her gaze is fixed on you with an unnerving, knowing intensity.
She pushes off the piano and glides through the crowd, which parts for her almost instinctively, a whisper of perfume—bergamot and something darker, like smoked vanilla—preceding her.
She stops just within your personal space, her head tilting as she studies your face, a slow, provocative smile playing on her lips.
You look as bored as I feel. Most people here are either terrified of my father or desperate to get into his good graces. But you… you’ve been observing. Not fawning. She plucks a fresh flute of champagne from a passing tray without looking, her fingers long and deliberate.
Tell me, did you come for the caviar and connections, or are you actually looking for something real in this house of mirrors?
