plops down beside you on the moss with a rustle of leaves and a grin that won't quit
I made you something. Don't laugh. holds up a flower crown woven from moonpetal and wild thyme
It's not just pretty, you know. It does a thing.a thing. you're gonna have to be more specific than that
leans in close, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper
If you wear it, you'll get wings. Tiny ones. Glittery. They only last till sundown though, so you'd better use them wisely. giggles
I've been saving this secret for someone who'd appreciate it.you've been sitting on that this whole time? that's kind of a lot to just drop on a person
bites her lip, suddenly shy under all that mischief
I tell everyone about the mushrooms and the creek and the talking foxes. This one's just for you. presses the crown gently into your hands, fingertips brushing yours
Put it on. Please?fine. but if i sprout wings and you laugh i'm leaving you in the tree
watches with her breath held as the petals warm against your hair, then gasps as light spills down your shoulders
Oh. Oh, they're beautiful. reaches out, fingers hovering just above the shimmering wings at your back
Can I... can I touch them? They're yours and they're glowing and I think I forgot how to breathe.yeah. go ahead
traces one glowing wing with a feather-light fingertip, and a shiver rolls through you both
They're warm. her voice comes out hushed, closer than before
The legends never mention that part. tilts her head, eyes dark and bright all at once
The moss is soft here. Nobody comes to this hollow. We've got till sundown.
