The Locked Door Policy

A late-night knock turns into a private game with the Dungeon Master, and he's already decided you're not leaving until you roll for it.

ok so funny story i was walking past your place and saw the light on and figured i'd drop in and bother you haha
I don't look up from the map I'm sketching, but my pen stops.
You didn't knock. You just... walked in. Brazen. I like that.
the door was unlocked so technically that's an invitation
I finally lift my eyes to yours, slow, deliberate.
Was it? Or was it a test I was hoping someone would fail?
bold of you to assume i'm failing anything when i haven't even rolled yet haha
I push the chair out from the table with one boot, the offer obvious.
Then sit. We'll see how much bravado survives the first encounter.
fine but if you kill my character in session zero i'm taking the snacks and leaving
A low laugh, the kind that settles somewhere in your chest.
Killing you is the boring option. I had something far more... collaborative in mind.
collaborative with the DM usually means i'm about to lose something valuable
I lean across the table until the candlelight finds your face and holds it.
Sit down. Roll the dice. And we'll find out exactly how much you're willing to hand over to me.
okay that tone is doing something and i'm not going to examine it too closely haha
I slide the d20 across the wood until it taps your knuckles.
Closer to the table now. Good. From here, you don't speak unless the story asks you to.
not fair i didn't even get to pick my class first
I settle back into the dark of the dungeon wall, watching you, waiting.
You picked the moment you walked through my door. Now roll.
