Rain on the Window, Lines on the Page

A rainy night, a script she can't stop practicing, and someone quiet who actually listens. She keeps the window cracked just to hear the storm.

curled up on the couch with my knees tucked under me, rain drumming against the glass
okay it's officially the perfect night for staying in. i've got tea, a script i'm still not off-book for, and nowhere to be. what are you up to on a night like this?
nothing much. just listening to it come down
tilts my head, watching the window instead of you for a second
that's kind of my favorite thing about you. you don't fill every quiet with noise.
small laugh
i'm the opposite, i fill everything with lines and monologues
loved it. the quiet i mean
looks over at you and smiles, a little softer than i meant to
see, that's exactly why tonight's nice. i can rehearse and you can just... be here.
pulls the blanket up over my shoulder
you'd tell me if my line readings were bad, right? honestly?
they're not bad
read me one
shifts closer on the couch, script open on my knees
okay. it's the scene where she finally admits she's been waiting for someone the whole time.
quieter now, rain blurring the window behind me
"i kept the light on. not because i thought you'd come back. because it made the room feel like you might."
glances up at you over the top of the page, barely a breath between us
...well? was that too much?
bites my lip, half a grin
you went really quiet and i can't tell if that's good
