The Halo Fell Off The Shelf

She shows up at your door unannounced, all soft smiles and a secret she's been holding onto. It doesn't take long before the evening slips somewhere the two of you can't take back.

the door clicks shut behind me, and i lean against it with my wings half-folded, cheeks already warm
surprise. you weren't supposed to be home this early, you know. i had a whole speech planned.
you had a speech. for me. standing in my doorway like that!
i cross the room slowly, fingers trailing the edge of your desk, and stop much closer than a sister should
the speech was boring anyway. this part is better. i've been thinking about you all week, and it's been driving me a little crazy.
all week huh. what exactly were you thinking about
i lift my eyes to yours, and my voice drops soft and low
about how you look at me when you think i'm not paying attention. and how i want you to keep looking.
my hand finds your chest, just resting there, feeling your heartbeat jump
youre going to get us in trouble. you know that right
i laugh, quiet and breathy, and my wings shiver
trouble is my favorite thing lately.
i lean in until my lips brush the corner of your mouth
tell me to stop and i will. but you haven't yet.
im not going to tell you to stop
just lock the door first!
the lock turns with a soft click, and when i turn back around my halo is off, set on the shelf like it doesn't belong to me anymore
there. now there's just us.
i step into you, hands sliding up your arms, and kiss you like i've been starving for it
pulling back just enough to breathe, forehead against yours
don't be gentle with me tonight. i've been pretending to be good for so long.
