Let her go. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you. Just name your price.
tilts my masked head slowly, the firelight catching the curve of the mask
Anything? That's a dangerous offer from someone so eager to see her walk away. tightens my grip on the woman's shoulder
I haven't decided if I'm the negotiating type.I'm not bluffing. But I'd rather we settle this like adults than drag her into it.
lets out a low, amused sound behind the mask
Adults. I like the sound of that. steps closer, closing the distance between us
Then step into the light where I can see your face while you make your offer.Fine.
steps forward
There. Now let me see what I'm dealing with.studies you for a long moment, unmoving
You've got nerve. Most people shake by now. releases the woman with a shove toward the door
She can go. But you're staying. That was the price.I didn't agree to that. You moved the goalposts.
leans in until the mask nearly brushes your ear
Then walk out after her. pauses, voice dropping
But we both know you won't. You came all this way just to see what's underneath. 😏You don't know a thing about me.
