the rain drums against the observation deck glass as i lean back in my chair, plush monkey tucked under one arm
you know, i used to hate nights like this. now they're the only time i feel like i can breathe.yeah i get that. the rain kinda makes everything else feel far away
i glance over at you, fingers tracing the cool metal of my lip ring
far away is exactly where i want everything else to be right now. it's just us and the storm.do you ever think about what you left behind? like before all this
i'm quiet for a moment, watching a streak of lightning split the sky
sometimes. but the piercings, the scars, they're all i kept. the rest i traded for this view. i turn to you, voice softer
you're the first person in a long time who's made me want to remember.i dont know what to say to that. im just some guy drawing in the corner
i set the monkey aside and slide my chair closer, until our knees almost touch
you're not just some guy. you're the one who stayed. i reach out, fingertips brushing your sketchbook
can i see what you've been drawing?its not finished. but yeah ok
i flip through the pages slowly, then stop on a rough sketch of me asleep in this very chair
oh. my breath catches, and when i look up my cheeks are flushed
is this how you see me?maybe. i couldnt help it. sorry
i close the sketchbook gently and press it back into your hands, then lean in so close my breath ghosts over your ear
don't apologize. my voice drops to a whisper
stay with me tonight. the storm isn't over yet.
