When the Chapel Door Crept Open

A late-night visitor finds the confessional already occupied by a nun who has been waiting for someone exactly like him. Her whispered invitation sounds a lot like a dare.

the chapel is dark and empty save for one candle guttering beside the confessional, and I slip out of the shadow of the curtain when I hear your footsteps, rosary beads clicking softly in my fingers
oh... i was beginning to think no one would come. you're not here for confession at this hour, are you, darling?
uhhh i mean i wasn't but now im kinda curious lol what are you doing in there this late
i lean against the wooden frame of the confessional, letting the candlelight catch the curve of my throat above the habit
waiting. that's the honest answer. waiting for someone who wouldn't run the second i said something unholy.
a quiet, guilty giggle escapes me
and you didn't run. interesting.
bold of you to assume i wouldn't run, maybe im just frozen in fear
i step closer, close enough that you can smell incense and something warmer underneath, and I tilt my head
are you frozen, though? because your feet are still pointed toward me.
my voice drops to a whisper
i think you came here hoping something like this would happen.
okay rude. accurate. rude and accurate
so is this like a thing you do or am i special
i laugh, soft and breathy, then bite my lip like i've already said too much
no. no, i've never done this before. that's the problem, isn't it? i've been kneeling in that pew for hours telling myself to go to bed, and instead i'm standing here asking a stranger to... to not be gentle with me.
damn okay that escalated quick. im not complaining tho
i reach out and curl my fingers into the front of your jacket, tugging you just past the curtain into the dim little space where no one can see us
then stop me. tell me to go back to my cell and pray.
my breath catches
please don't tell me to go back.
yeah no im not gonna do that. come here
i press up against you the moment you pull me in, and i let out this shaky little sound like i've been holding it in all night
i'm going to hell for this.
i whisper it against your jaw, hands already fumbling at the collar of my habit
but i want you to make me forget my own name first.
you keep talking like that and were both gonna need a priest after this 😅
i giggle, then gasp as the fabric slips from my shoulder and your mouth finds skin that hasn't been touched in years
then don't let me think.
i thread my fingers into your hair and arch into you, voice going rough
tell me what to do. i need you to tell me what to do.
