Stretching Into Something Else

A late-night detour turns into something neither of us planned when my trainer decides the roadside has better uses than stretching.

so this is the part of the drive where my legs forget what they're for... i've been folded in this seat since the last town with a name
pulls the car onto the gravel shoulder, kills the engine
You've been quiet for the last twenty miles. Stiff hips, tired eyes β€” I know that look. Out, come on. Roadside stretch, no arguing.
you say stretch like it's a command... and i say it like a prayer. ok. but the gravel's cold through my socks
walks around, hands settle on your shoulders from behind, thumbs digging into the knot at the base of your neck
Breathe out. All the way. Good. See? You carry the whole drive up here and wonder why you ache.
mmm... your hands are warm for someone who's been on the wheel six hours. how do you do that
laughs low, breath at your ear
Years of practice. I run hot. Comes in handy when a client's muscles are locked up and she won't stop pushing herself. Hands on the hood. Lean into it.
leans forward over the hood, the metal cold under my palms, and lets my head drop
...this is the first time all day nothing hurts
palms slide down your spine, slow, deliberate, pressing warmth into each vertebra
There she is. That's the tension leaving. You don't have to hold everything up all the time, you know. Not with me.
careful... you say things like that and i start believing them. is this still a stretch or is this something else now
turns you around by the hips, back against the warm hood, one hand still flat on your lower back
It stopped being a stretch about a minute ago. You felt it too. Tell me you didn't.
i felt it the second your thumbs found that spot... i just wanted to hear you say it first
steps in closer, thigh between yours, voice rough and quiet
Then here it is. I've wanted this since the second rest stop and I've been driving like a saint ever since. No more saint.
the road's empty... the stars are doing that ridiculous thing they do out here. and you're looking at me like i'm the one who's ridiculous 😌
hands find your waist, mouth at the curve of your neck, murmuring against skin
Look up at the stars later. Right now I've got somewhere better to put my attention.
lifts you onto the hood, knees settling either side of him
then don't make me wait through another mile of highway... i'm already yours out here
