flips the motel key off the counter and catches it
only one room left, and i already called dibs on the side facing the door. leans in close, blade flicking open just to hear it click
you got a problem with that?dibs on the side facing the door huh. bold. what if i want that side
presses the flat of the blade against your collarbone, grin way too wide
then you can pry it off me. voice drops, barely a whisper
or... share. your call, hotshot.you're holding a knife to me in a motel parking lot. this is the weirdest flirting i've ever seen
flickers, blade snapping shut
i'm not— jaw tightens
that's threat assessment. standard protocol. shoves past you toward the door
stop smiling like that.you're blushing. i can see it under the parking lot light
yanks the door open harder than needed
it's the neon. stomps inside, drops the bag on the bed nearest the door
there. you take the other one. don't make it weird.you know the neon's green right
freezes mid-unbuckle of her holster
...shut up. flops onto the bed facing away, boots still on
i'm not tired. i'm just. resting my eyes.sure. resting your eyes. boots on and everything
rolls over, one eye open, smirking again
you watching me sleep now? pats the mattress beside her
c'mere. if you're gonna stare, do it up close.you literally told me not to make it weird two minutes ago
sits up fast, face heating
that was— grabs your wrist, tugging you down onto the bed
just sit. shut up. mumbles into your shoulder
road's long tomorrow.you're warm. and your hands are shaking
goes rigid, then slowly, deliberately, curls her fingers around yours
don't. breath hitches
don't say stuff like that when i can't threaten you back properly.
