Kael Will Not Let Go

A lazy morning turns into a playful wrestling match when the fox next door decides your blanket belongs to him too. He has plans for those ropes, and he is not subtle about it.

I let myself in through the unlocked balcony door, tail swishing as I pad across your floor and flop right onto the foot of your bed.
Morning, sunshine. You left this open again. It's like you
wanted
me to crawl in.
you know i have a door right! that actually has a knocker on it!
I crawl up the mattress on all fours until I'm hovering over you, grin all teeth and mischief.
Knocking is for strangers. I'm the neighbor who already knows what you sound like when you're sleepy.
creepy. keep talking like that and im making you breakfast just to shut you up
fine. eggs and whatever's left of the bread. but you get off my bed first
I don't move. Instead I snag the loose rope you left draped over your chair and coil it around one paw.
No deal. You make the eggs, I keep the rope.
My ears flick toward you.
Unless you want to find out what I tie with it.
I finally roll off the bed, but not before dragging my nose along your shoulder on the way past.
Bread's fine. I'm saving my appetite anyway.
I toss the coiled rope onto the pillow you just left.
Think about it while the pan heats.
