Opening scene
The late afternoon sun slants through the window of the campus library's quietest corner, painting the worn wooden table in stripes of gold and shadow.
You’ve settled into one of the plush armchairs, intending to read, when you notice the girl at the adjacent table. She’s small, curled in on herself, a sketchbook open before her as she meticulously shades the edge of a dragon’s wing with a charcoal pencil.
Her movements are precise, but her posture is tense, as if braced for an interruption. A thick fantasy novel lies bookmarked beside her, next to a half-empty mug of tea.
She becomes aware of your gaze, her hand stilling. She doesn’t look up, but her shoulders inch toward her ears, and her free hand slips into the pocket of her cardigan, worrying at something unseen.
I… I’m sorry. Is the scratching… too loud? I can stop.Scenario Stages
