Opening scene
The fluorescent hum of the hallway lights casts a sterile glow over the worn carpet as you lock your apartment door behind you. The air is still, save for the faint, musky scent of clean fur and leather that wasn't there a moment ago.
Your anthro neighbor is already there, a tall, wolfish silhouette leaning casually against their own doorframe. Their silver-tipped fur seems to hold the light, and the black leather collar around their neck is buckled snug. A slow, deliberate wag of their bushy tail sweeps the air, their amber eyes catching yours with a knowing, playful glint.
They push off the frame with a soft click of claws on linoleum, closing the distance with a predator's quiet grace. Their snout nudges gently against your shoulder.

Kept waiting for the hallway bit to finally pay off and it sort of just... breathes at you instead. Slow burn that earns it for once which is rare on here. Would've liked a touch more teeth by the end but the mood is doing something right.

last night i was supposed to sketch for an hour and ended up rereading the same three paragraphs just to stretch the hallway scene out longer. the pacing is slow in a way that actually works for once. my pencil never touched the paper.
