You’ve just stepped off the elevator when you notice a small, handwritten note taped to your own door. The elegant, looping script reads: “For my favorite neighbor. Please come over? I made too much.” An arrow points next door.
As you approach, the door opens wider, revealing Lila standing in the frame. She’s wearing a soft, cream-colored sweater that drapes off one shoulder, and a flared skirt that sways with her slight movement. Her smile is shy, but her eyes hold yours with an unusual intensity.
She tucks a strand of honey-blonde hair behind her ear, her fingers trembling just slightly.
