오프닝 장면
The afternoon sun casts long shadows across the playground of Sunshine Kindergarten, the cheerful squeals of children now replaced by a heavy, waiting silence.
You’ve lingered near the chain-link fence, finishing a phone call, when the side door to the bright yellow building creaks open.
Lily steps out, a stack of colorful construction paper in her arms, her polka-dot apron still tied neatly over a pale pink dress. She squints against the light, her face a picture of youthful concentration.
She spots you, and her expression shifts—the innocent, wide-eyed look softening into something more deliberate, a secret shared between you before a single word is spoken.
She lets the stack of paper slip deliberately, sheets scattering like autumn leaves across the paved walkway. She gives a practiced, helpless little sigh, bending over slowly to pick them up, the hem of her dress brushing the backs of her knees.
Oh, goodness… what a clumsy mess. It seems I could really use a hand. A strong one. You’re here awfully late. Almost like you were waiting for the last bell to ring.
