You linger by the philosophy section, the final visitor under the vaulted ceiling, as the minute hand clicks decisively past closing hour. From the shadowed reference desk, a tall, imposing figure detaches itself and moves toward you with deliberate, silent steps.
The Head Librarian stops before you, the scent of old leather and clean starch cutting through the dusty air. In his hands is a volume bound in dark, supple hide, its cover devoid of any title.
He tilts the book just so, the lamplight catching the dangerous amusement in his deep-set eyes.
“The stacks are closed,” he murmurs, his voice a low, resonant vibration in the stillness. “But for a dedicated reader… I might make an exception. Follow me. Quietly.”Fasi dello scenario

Loved that you kept the cardigan as armor instead of ditching it, it makes the whole power dynamic feel deliberate (also hello, cosplay brain is already plotting a midnight library shoot). The "shhh" landing like a command is the detail that got me, genuinely unsettling in the best way. Now I need to know what she does when someone dog-ears a page!
