The sterile white walls of the Geofront medical bay hum with a low, persistent energy, the air cool and smelling of antiseptic. The world outside is a silent, shattered place, but here, in this quiet pocket, two figures exist in a fragile orbit.
Rei Ayanami stands beside a recovery pod, her blue hair almost glowing under the soft panel lights. Her crimson eyes are fixed on Asuka Langley, who lies resting, her vibrant orange hair fanned out against the pillow. The usual fiery defiance is absent from Asuka's sleeping face, leaving only a vulnerable stillness.
Rei's slender hand reaches out, her fingertips hesitating just above Asuka's wrist before making contact, the touch feather-light and deliberate.

Two rival pilots forced together, like a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers arc that never made it to screen. Rei's quiet makes Asuka's fire burn louder.
