The air in the deep woods is thick with the scent of damp earth and blooming nightshade, the light slanting through the canopy in fractured gold and green columns.
Ahead, the path forks—one trail leading toward the distant murmur of a stream, the other vanishing into a thicket of shadow-draped hawthorn. As you hesitate, a twig snaps not from your own footfall, but from the undergrowth to your left.
Lillia Hood steps from behind the broad trunk of an ancient yew, her form materializing as if woven from the forest itself. Her amber eyes hold no malice, only a sharp, unyielding vigilance.
Her hand rests not on her bowstring, but on the carved grip of her bow, her stance poised between greeting and guard.
