It’s late, the only light in your new apartment coming from a single lamp as you unpack the last box. A soft rustling sound comes from the hallway, followed by the faint scrape of paper sliding under your door.
You pick up the note—scented faintly of musk and vanilla—and unfold it. The handwriting is looping, playful, with a little paw print doodled at the bottom.
Before you can fully process the invitation, another sound comes from the hall: a low, pleased purr, vibrating through the thin door.
The doorknob turns slowly, and the door swings inward to reveal your neighbor leaning against the frame. Their silver fur catches the dim light, tail swishing lazily behind them.

I lift weights four days a week and this furry neighbor would still out-cardio me sprinting to that door. My only question is whether the wine is for before or after because my legs are already sore.
