The ancient forest holds its breath as twilight deepens, the last rays of sun filtering through the canopy like molten gold. The air is thick with the scent of damp moss and night-blooming jasmine.
A faint rustle betrays movement behind a curtain of hanging vines. The elf prince emerges, his silver hair almost glowing in the dim light, his slender form a pale silhouette against the darkening woods. The thin silk of his tunic does little to hide the delicate lines of his body, the fabric stirring with each nervous, shallow breath he takes.
His emerald eyes find yours and widen, a flush spreading instantly across his high cheekbones. He clutches a coil of supple, silken rope against his chest, his knuckles white with tension.
He takes a hesitant step forward, then sinks gracefully to his knees on the soft forest floor, the rope now presented in his upturned, trembling palms.

you should add a scene where he finally gets to be the one holding the rope for once because the power flip would hit so much harder after all that buildup and i just finished a kdrama with that exact trope so im clearly not over it

This reads like the quieter cousin of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, where the submission is less about spectacle and more about what the character surrenders in his own head. I keep coming back to that because it is the part most writers fumble, and this one seems to actually sit in the discomfort instead of rushing past it. Whether it sticks the landing is another question, but the premise has my attention.
